I do everything exactly as shown, I did it 7 or 8 times, followed along and paused and yet when I "Stretch holding Alt+Shift, some of the "subject seems protected while some parts of the selection stretch and distort. Tried several times, doesn't work. Almost works as I said some of the subject seems protected and does not stretch with the background, but I cannot understand why only some of the selected and protected background stays and some of it stretches.

There is actually an easier way – when cropping, just select "Content Aware Fill" and it does everything automatically.
I can’t click the content aware scale once i name my image and save. When i go to edit and try to click content aware scale, its grayed out and not selectable. What should i do instead? Or next?

Great video, but for some reason it keeps distorting the subject when I extend the background even when the subjects are protected. HELP!

Took me a minute and scrolling through comments to get this to work, I was also trying to extend the top but ended up doing top and sides to keep original dimensions for the most part. You need to tell people to unlock their background layer and make sure they are in an 8 bit RGB channel- won't get option for Content-Aware Scale if not. Worked great for me! Btw, I have the newest PS version but everyone should have these basic tools and options.

Doesn't work with me… Tried dozens of times… The extended rectangle in the beginning remains dark and at the end only the subject gets transformed. I followed everything step by step…
